Description
The Carpenters Arms is a row of cottages dating from around 1700, with alterations made in the 19th century. The left-hand part serves as a public house, while the right-hand part has been converted into a shop. The building features a timber frame, with the left side encased in colourwashed brick and the right side finished with colourwashed render and applied timber framing. It has a clay tile roof and a four-room plan, consisting of one storey and attics, with various additions at the rear.
On the ground floor, there are two-light horizontal sash windows with glazing bars, a canted bay window, a 20th-century bow window with glazing bars, and a 20th-century shop window with glazing bars. The attic includes four gabled dormers, each with two-light casements that also have glazing bars. The entrance features one plank door and two glazed doors, while a tall red brick multiple ridge stack is located at the center of the building.
