Description
Nelson Cottage and The Bakery is a cottage row located in Sissinghurst, dating from the 17th century, with an 18th-century gabled wing at the front and a mid-19th-century cottage row to the left. The left side is constructed of red brick with rendered window heads, while the right side features timber framing with a red brick ground floor and a tile-hung first floor. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall. The front has an irregular arrangement of five windows, all of which are 19th-century casements, except for a sash window on the first floor of the gabled wing. There are boarded doors to the left and in the centre, along with a half-glazed door on the re-entrant face of the wing to the right. At the rear, there is a deep catslide roof with various wings added. The building is included for its group value.
