Description
Vine Cottage is an early 19th-century building located on Castle Street in Portchester. It features a red brick facade and wide eaves, topped by a hipped roof covered with old tiles. The cottage is two storeys high and has two windows on the upper floor, which are sashes with boxed frames and glazing bars. The ground floor windows have cambered head linings, as does the central door, which is framed by a simple moulded architrave. Vine Cottage is part of a group that includes Nos 153 to 157, the street boundary wall at No 153, the former barn to the south of No 157, and Nelson Cottages at No 158. Nos 157 and Nelson Cottages are recognized as buildings of local interest.
