Description
Wisteria Cottage is a 18th-century building, possibly with earlier elements, located on Castle Street in Portchester. It is constructed of red brick and features an old tiled hipped roof that is divided into two parts, with the southern section being slightly lower and a chimney situated at the junction. The cottage has two storeys and four windows; all but one of the first-floor windows are sashes with boxed frames, cambered head linings, and glazing bars, while the remaining window is a 19th-century casement. A trellis porch leads to a six-panelled door, with the top two panels now glazed. Wisteria Cottage is part of a group that includes Nos 162 to 174, the street boundary wall at No 174, Nos 182 to 190, and No 196, as well as Nos 169 to 175, the railings and gate at No 169, and the street boundary wall at No 171. Notably, No 175 and No 196 are recognized as buildings of local interest.
