Description
This is a thatched cottage dating from the 16th or 17th century. It's a timber-framed building with painted brick infill, arranged in a square panel pattern. The roof is thatched and half-hipped. A large chimney stands above the centrally positioned entrance, which has a plank door. There are two windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor; these are all sash windows in an 18th or early 19th century style. The cottage forms part of a group with numbers 169 to 175 (odd), along with numbers 162 to 174 (even), numbers 182 to 190 (even), and number 196, and is bounded by a gate and railings at number 169, and a street boundary wall at number 171. Numbers 175 and 196 are considered to be buildings of local interest.
