Description

This is an 18th-century or earlier building located on Castle Street, Portchester. The facade is roughcast, and it features a steeply pitched thatched roof that slopes low at the rear. The building is two stories high, with three early 19th-century casement windows. An off-centre chimney and a modern porch are also present. The south end of the building was rebuilt or reclad with a red brick wall. No. 158 forms a group with Nos. 153 to 157 (odd), the street boundary wall at No. 153, the former barn to the south of No. 157, and Nelson Cottages, all of which contribute to the local character.
