Numbers 1 To 4 And Attached Walls And Gate Piers

These are a row of terraced houses located on Clifton Road in Brighton, built around 1830. They are constructed from stucco, with Nos 1 and 3 featuring tiled roofs, while Nos 2 and 4 have slate roofs. The houses rise three storeys and each has a single-window range. The entrances are flat-arched with overlights and set back under flat-arched porches. The ground and first floors have segmental bays with tripartite windows, and there is a verandah on the first floor with cast-iron railings, although No. 2 lacks the canopy. A storey band separates the floors, and the second-floor windows have moulded stucco architraves. The sashes on Nos 1-3 are of original design, and the eaves are boxed with stacks located at the party walls. The interior has not been inspected. The property is complemented by stuccoed dwarf garden walls and square corniced gate piers.
