Description

Numbers 28 to 31 are a row of terraced houses built between 1807 and 1818, located in Brighton. They are constructed of stucco with slate roofs that are visible. The houses rise four storeys above a basement, with Nos. 30 and 31 featuring dormer windows and a single-window range. The ground-floor entrance and windows are flanked by Greek Doric pilasters adorned with rosettes, supporting a frieze decorated with triglyphs and bucrania. The entrance is flat-arched and includes an overlight and panelled doors that are of original design.

The ground, first, second, and third floors have segmental bays that are offset to the right above the ground floor. All windows are flat-arched and tripartite, with the ground-floor windows flanked by fluted pilasters that have rosettes on Nos. 28 and 29. The first-floor balconies are fitted with cast-iron railings and canopies above. The upper floors are rusticated, and the bays are flanked by giant pilasters that feature guilloche ornaments. The sashes on No. 28 and the ground floor of No. 29 are of original design. The cornice is interrupted by a bay on No. 28, and there is a blocking course along the top. The mansard roof includes dormers, and there are stacks on the party walls.

The property has cast-iron railings leading to the steps and area, which are topped with spearhead finials. The interior has not been inspected.
