Description

26 and 27 Bedford Square are terraced houses that have been combined but feature different facades. They were built around 1807 to 1828, with some later alterations. The exterior is finished in stucco, and No. 27 has a slate roof.

No. 26 has four storeys above a basement, while No. 27 has three storeys above a basement and includes dormers. The entrance to No. 27 features a pointed arch flanked by fluted pilasters, with 19th-century decoration on the fanlight. No. 26 showcases a segmental bay on the ground, first, and second floors that ends in a canted cornice, along with a triple flat-arched window above, a cornice, and a panelled parapet. No. 27 also has a segmental bay on the ground, first, and second floors, with the upper bay slightly offset. It includes a bracketed balcony with cast-iron railings adorned with anthemion ornament, which may be a replacement. The cornice is interrupted by the bay, and there is a blocking course and a dormer in the mansard roof. The interior has not been inspected. No. 27 was originally listed on October 13, 1952.
