Description

This barn, located approximately 28 metres south-east of Handpost Farmhouse, dates from the late 16th century and was extended in the 20th century. It features a timber frame, with part of the structure weatherboarded and part filled with brick, topped by an old tile half-hipped roof. The barn has a rectangular plan consisting of four framed bays, with a gabled midstrey facing south-east in the second bay. At the rear (north-west), there is a 20th-century lean-to tiled extension. Inside, the barn has a queen post roof with double butt purlins and rafters that are pegged to them. It also includes straight posts, windbraces, and knee braces.
