Description
Foliejon Cottage is a house dating from the mid-16th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features a timber frame that is encased in painted render, topped with an old tile gabled roof that has a cross-gable on the left side.
The house is composed of three framed bays along with a two-bay crosswing, and there are extensions on the right side and at the rear. It stands two storeys tall with a plinth and has four chimneys with clay pots. The entrance front faces east and displays irregular fenestration. On the left, there is a single bay gable that slightly projects, featuring three-light windows. To the right, the first floor has a three-light window and two two-light windows, while the ground floor has two two-light windows and a 20th-century planked wooden entrance door on the left, which is sheltered by a flat hood supported by large wooden brackets.
Inside, part of the timber frame is exposed, showcasing a queen post roof with posts that lack jowls but include curved knee braces. The ground floor joists are chamfered and feature shield stops.
