Description
Numbers 7 to 16 are a row of terraced houses built between 1836 and 1837 in Islington. They are constructed from yellow brick in Flemish bond, with stucco detailing, and their roofs are hidden by a parapet. The houses rise three storeys above a basement, with two windows on each floor. The basement and ground floor are stuccoed, featuring banded rustication on the ground floor.
Access to the houses is via steps leading up to a round-arched entrance, with the doorcase set within a recessed round arch of smooth stucco, flanked by Ionic pilasters, and topped with a fanlight. The panelled doors are of original design, except for those at numbers 11 and 13. The ground-floor window is also round-arched and set within a recessed round arch of smooth stucco. The upper windows are flat-arched with gauged-brick heads, and some retain original sash designs.
Numbers 7 to 13 have single cast-iron balconies, while numbers 15 and 16 feature double-bracketed balconies with cast-iron railings. A stucco cornice and blocking-course run along the top, and chimney stacks are located on the party walls. Number 7 has a single-storey extension on the side with a round-arched window. The area railings are made of cast iron with spearhead finials and piers adorned with anthemion decoration for numbers 7-9 and 11-14, while numbers 15 and 16 have principal finials shaped like urns.
