Description

Numbers 14 to 20 (even) and attached railings are a group of terraced houses dating from around 1845. They are constructed of yellow brick laid in Flemish bond, with stucco detailing, and have a roof hidden by a parapet. Each house is three storeys high, with a basement, and has two windows. The basement and ground floor are stuccoed, with the ground floor stucco being rusticated. Steps lead up to a round-arched entrance, set within a recessed round arch of smooth stucco. The doorcase features pilaster jambs, except for number 14, which has fluted quarter-columns. There is a fanlight above the door, and panelled doors which are likely original to numbers 14, 18, and 20. The ground-floor windows are round-arched and recessed within a round-arched panel of smooth stucco. First and second-floor windows have flat arches with gauged-brick heads and original sash windows to the ground floor of numbers 18 and 20, the first floor of numbers 14 and 16, and the second floor of number 16. Common balconies are present on the first floors of numbers 14, 16, and 18, featuring iron brackets and what are likely replacement railings. Number 20 has window guards to the first floor. Cast-iron railings are present to the area; those to numbers 14, 16, and 20 appear to be replacements.
