Description

Numbers 8 to 14 Sekforde Street comprise a terrace of houses built between 1835 and 1840. The houses are constructed of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with some areas stuccoed. The roofs are concealed behind a parapet. The houses are three storeys high, with a basement level. The window arrangement varies; numbers 8 to 10, 12 and 14 each have two windows, while numbers 11 and 13 have three windows, and number 11A appears to have a single window.

The basement and ground floors of numbers 11 to 12 are stuccoed, with the ground floor of numbers 13 and 14 stuccoed entirely. The entrances to numbers 8 to 10 are round-arched, featuring fluted quarter columns, a cornice, a fanlight, and an original panelled door. Numbers 11, 11A and 12 have engaged Roman Doric columns, a cornice, and a fanlight; number 11 has an original panelled door, and number 11A has replacement metal columns. Number 13 also features fluted quarter columns and a fanlight, while number 14 has a single-storey ground-floor extension with two round-arched entrances and fanlights. A carriage entrance is located at number 13. Most ground-floor windows are round-arched, with one Venetian window at number 14. A stucco storey band runs along the facade. Upper-floor windows are flat-arched, with the exception of one round-arched window and a canted bay at number 14. Windows on the first floor are set back under round arches of gauged brick, linked by a brick springing band. Cast-iron balconies are present at numbers 8 and 11. The parapet includes brickwork designed to resemble triglyphs and guttae to numbers 8 to 12. Cast-iron railings are present to the area of numbers 8 to 10.
