Description
No. 34 Sekforde Street is a former public house built between 1829 and 1831, featuring an early 20th-century ground-floor pub frontage. The building is constructed of brown brick laid in Flemish bond, with stucco and tiles on the pub frontage, and the roof is obscured by a parapet.
It stands three storeys above a basement, with a two-window range on the semi-circular bay at the corner and a three-window range facing Sekforde Street. The ground floor showcases an early 20th-century pub frontage made of buff and dark brown tiles. The upper storeys on Sekforde Street and the bay are stuccoed, featuring flat-arched windows. The first-floor windows are set back under round arches, connected by springing bands, and there is a string course below the parapet.
Inside, the building retains a panelled dado, likely from the early 19th century, in the back room, and an early 19th-century staircase with an open string, stick balusters, and an acorn finial on the newel post. The staircase also has a panelled dado, and there is an early to mid-19th-century fireplace in the front room on the upper floor.
