Description
Numbers 1-6 are a row of terraced houses built around 1845, located on Gerrard Road in Islington. They are constructed from yellow brick in Flemish bond and feature stucco, with a roof that is obscured by a parapet. The houses rise three storeys above a basement, with two windows on each level. The basement and ground floor are stuccoed, with the ground floor showcasing banded rustication.
Each house has a segmental-arched entrance framed by pilaster jambs, a cornice, and a fanlight, although only number 2 has decorative glazing. The doors typically have two narrow panels, except for number 1, which has a single-storey recessed porch on the side without original details. The ground-floor windows are round-arched, and a sill band marks the end of the stucco at the first-floor level. The upper windows are flat-arched with gauged brick heads, and the first-floor windows feature iron balconies.
Numbers 1, 2-4, 5, and 6 retain original design sashes. Numbers 5 and 6 have a moulded stucco cornice and blocking course, while the others have a simpler parapet. The area is enclosed by railings topped with fleur-de-lys finials.
