Description

Numbers 22 to 27 Remington Street are a group of terraced houses built between 1846 and 1847. The houses are constructed of yellow brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco detailing and roofs of Welsh slate. They are three storeys high with a basement, and each house has a two-window front. The basement is stuccoed, with steps leading to a round-arched entrance at number 27, featuring a moulded stucco architrave with pilasters, a recessed arch with pilaster jambs and cornice, a fanlight, and panelled doors of original design. Number 22 has a side entrance. All windows are flat-arched, with moulded stucco architraves and a sill band to the first floor. The ground-floor windows at numbers 22 and 23 retain their original 6/6 sash windows. A stucco cornice and blocking course are present, topped by mansard roofs with two windows each. Chimney stacks are situated on the party walls between the houses. Original cast-iron railings are attached to the steps and area.
