Description

Number 23 is a terraced house dating from around 1840, situated on Vincent Terrace in Islington. The house is constructed of yellow brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco detailing. The roof is hidden behind a parapet. It is three storeys high, with a basement, and features a two-window front. The basement and ground floor are stuccoed. A set of steps leads to a round-arched entrance with a moulded stucco architrave, fluted pilasters, and a cornice. It has a fanlight and an original panelled door. The ground-floor window is also round-arched. A sill band runs across the first floor, marking the end of the stucco. The upper windows are flat-arched, with moulded stucco architraves; those on the first floor have a cornice and iron balconies. The original sash windows remain, with intersecting glazing bars on the ground floor and 6/6 sashes on the second floor. A cornice and blocking course top the facade. A side-stack chimney is present. Cast-iron railings are attached to the area.
