Description

The east entrance to the Islington Tunnel of the Regent's Canal, along with its flanking walls, was built between 1819 and 1820 by James Morgan, the engineer for the Regent's Canal Company. The structure is made of brown and yellow brick arranged in English bond, with stone dressings. It features a round-arched opening that has banded rustication, creating the appearance of voussoirs, and is flanked by a pair of Doric pilasters. The parapet includes a brick panel, and the flanking walls have simple piers at each end.
