Description

This is a large, mid-19th century printing works, situated on Wharf Road. The building is three stories tall and comprises eight bays on either side of a slightly recessed central bay, which features a two-story wagon entrance. It is constructed of stock brick with a stone-coped parapet. The second-floor windows are rectangular, with five panes over four, and metal bars, set within gauged flat brick arches. The first-floor windows are of a similar form but are longer than the ground-floor windows, which have chamfered stone lintels and stone cills. These cills extend across a giant arcading through two floors and the entire building, except for the recessed central bay. The arcade is characterized by finely gauged round brick arches and stone impost blocks.
