Description
This is a circa 1790 terraced house located on Charlton Place in Islington. It is a double-fronted building of four storeys and three windows, constructed of yellow and multi-coloured brick in English bond, with stucco detailing. The roof is hidden by a parapet. The segmental-arched entrance features an architrave styled as a plain stucco band with enriched impost blocks, vermiculated voussoirs, and a Coade stone keystone carved with a female head. A cornice tops the entrance, incorporating a fanlight and decorative glazing, above an original-design panelled door. The ground-floor windows are flat-arched, while those on the piano nobile first floor are larger, and each has an iron balcony. Second-floor windows have cambered arches. The original sash windows are 8/8 panes to the ground floor and 6/6 panes to the second floor. A small dormer window is present in the roof, and side stacks are visible. The area railings have spike finials and a scrolled overthrow, incorporating a lampholder.
