Description

These are a pair of semi-detached houses, built around 1845. The exterior is stucco over yellow brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern. Number 9 has an asbestos slate roof, while number 11 has a Welsh slate roof. The houses are two storeys high, with a basement, and each has three windows. They are divided by a shallow, recessed panel. The ground floor features banded rustication, and steps lead to a flat-arched entrance within a slightly recessed outer bay. The entrance is set back within a shallow porch with engaged Doric antae, a plain entablature, an overlight, and a panelled door of the original design. A broad, tripartite, segmental-arched window is located on the ground floor. The stucco finish terminates at a storey band. The first-floor windows are flat-arched; the sashes are of the original design, except for the inner first-floor windows of number 9. The houses have deep boxed eaves and a hipped roof. A stack is located on the party wall between the two houses.
