Description
No. 7 Broad Street is a house and shop that dates back to the early 16th century, with later alterations. The building is timber-framed, plastered, and whitewashed, topped with a plaintile roof. The gable end faces the street and the structure has two storeys and an attic. It features a 20th-century plate-glass shop front with a central glazed door, along with a subsidiary half-glazed door to the left. The first floor has a former jetty that is underbuilt and includes two 6/6 flush-framed unhorned sash windows, with a similar window in the attic. The roof is steeply pitched and gabled, and there is a rendered stepped external stack on the east side, with the upper courses dating from the 20th century. Inside, the ground floor has a bridging beam that is hollow chamfered and features roll moulding, while the joists also have multiple roll mouldings. There is a chamfered brick fireplace beneath a depressed 4-centred arch.
