Description

No. 39 High Street is a house and shop that dates back to the 15th century, with a cladding from the 18th century. It has a timber frame and is rendered, with painted brick on the side elevations. The roof is plain tiled, featuring two storeys on a plinth, a hipped roof, and a gablet facing the road. There is a stack at the rear. The first floor has a three-light wooden casement window, while the ground floor has a plate glass window and a half-glazed door to the left. At the back, there is a one-storey wing with an attic that includes a hipped dormer. The interior suggests it was originally a hall house with a jetty at the front. There are reported 18th-century fireplaces and fittings.
