Description

Mardleybury Manor is a house that underwent rebuilding in the early to mid 19th century, replacing an older structure. It is constructed of stock brick with stone dressings and features a hipped slate roof, with tiles on the rear. The front block is symmetrical, consisting of three bays by three bays, and has rear wings that reflect the layout of the earlier building. The house is two storeys high.

The central entrance is accessed by stone steps with curved iron railings, leading to a half-glazed door with two raised panels and a traceried semi-circular fanlight. This is set within a double gauged brick round arched reveal with impost blocks. The windows are large single glazing bar sashes, recessed with gauged brick flat arched heads, with slightly smaller sashes in the centre of the first floor. The eaves have a bracketed and panelled soffit, and there are end stacks.

The side returns feature smaller scattered sashes, and there is a cellar opening on the left end. At the rear, there are two wings with more steeply pitched roofs, which have slightly lower ridges. The left wing is broader, while the right has two bays with a blocked entrance that has been converted into a window, complete with a traceried fanlight and a ridge stack. The left side also has a blocked entrance with dentilled brick eaves. Extending to the rear right is a single-storey range with a hipped entrance porch, a sash window, and two stacks on a steeply pitched roof, along with a lower weatherboarded outbuilding at the rear end. There is a 20th-century outshut to the rear left. The site is partially moated.
