Description

THERFIELD REED END TL 33 NW/TL 33 NE (North side) 4/124 and 5/124 Mardleybury Manor II House. Early to mid C19 rebuilding of an older house. Stock brick with stone dressings. Hipped slate roof, tiles to rear. 3 x 3 bay symmetrical front block with rear wings reflecting older building. All 2 storeys. Stone steps with curved iron railings up to central entrance on raised ground floor, half-glazed door with 2 raised panels, traceried semi- circular fanlight all in a double gauged brick round arched reveal with impost blocks. Large single glazing bar sashes, recessed with gauged brick flat arched heads, slightly smaller to first floor centre. Bracketed and panelled eaves soffit. End stacks. Returns have scattered smaller sashes, cellar opening in left end. Attached to rear are 2 wings with more steeply pitched roofs with slightly lower ridges, hipped roofs that to left is broader, return elevations set back slightly. To right 2 bays with a blocked entrance, now a window, with a traceried fanlight, ridge stack. To left a blocked entrance, dentilled brick eaves. To rear right extends a 1 storey range. Hipped entrance porch, a sash, 2 stacks on steeply pitched roof, lower weatherboarded outbuilding on rear end. C20 outshut to rear left. Partially moated site.
