Description

Haywood House is an early 19th-century house located in Haywood Lane, Therfield. The house is constructed of knapped flint with red brick dressings, and has a hipped slate roof. It has three bays arranged over two storeys. The central entrance features a recessed six-panelled door within a doorcase with moulded pilasters and a dentil-ed architrave. The windows are 16-pane recessed sashes, and the house has boxed eaves. Chimneys are located at the ends of the building. A one-bay, two-storey dairy is attached as a lean-to to the left, with an entrance and horizontal sliding sashes. The rear elevation has an entrance to the left of centre and recessed small-pane horizontal sliding sashes with segmental heads. A first-floor central blind opening is present, and a ground-floor garage is integrated into the lean-to, with a blocked opening above. The building formerly operated as a public house.
