Description
Brook Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier and was built in two phases, with alterations made in the 20th century. The structure features a timber frame that is rendered in parts and includes some brickwork. It has steeply pitched roofs covered with machine-made tiles. The house is arranged in two sections, with the right section having a steeper roof pitch, which suggests it may have originally been an open hall.
The entrance is located in a 20th-century projecting porch to the right of the center. The windows consist of two and three light small pane flush frame casements, and there are three light attic windows that have been inserted. On the left end of the slightly lower right block, there is a rebuilt stack made of 19th-century gault brick. The right end of the house shows exposed plates and purlins, while the left end is faced with brick. There is also a 20th-century single-storey flat-roofed outbuilding located to the front right, which is of no special interest.
