Description
No. 2 and 4 North Street are flats and shops dating from the early 19th century. The buildings are timber framed and plastered, topped with a gabled peg tile roof. They stand two storeys high, featuring a first floor with five double hung sash windows that have margin glazing bars. The ground floor includes two 19th-century shopfronts, which have 'V' shaped mullions and scroll brackets on the fascias. No. 2 has panelled timber stallrisers. There is also an early 19th-century flat hooded doorcase with a panelled frieze and a six-panel door, along with a central bay of double hung sashes that lack glazing bars and have canted soffits. The buildings are included primarily for their group value.
