Description
No. 52 Church Street is a shop with a flat above, dating from the early 19th century. It is built of rendered brick and features a hipped clay plain tile roof behind high parapets. The building has three storeys and cellars.
On the second floor, there is a small square attic with a double-hung sash window that has small panes on either side of a blind window. The first floor features a recessed tripartite double-hung sash window with small panes flanking a conventionally proportioned blind window recess. The ground floor has a rendered panel with a moulded surround, a squat tripartite double-hung sash window with small panes, and a 19th-century shop front. This shop front includes a fascia with console ends, a cornice hood, and two large panes. There are recessed entrances to both the shop and the flat.
Inside, the building contains a generous early 19th-century dogleg staircase, along with many contemporary doors, architraves, and simple plaster cornices.
