Description
No. 17 Eastgate Street is a shop and flat, now functioning solely as a shop. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone alterations in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick, with a stuccoed front and a slate roof. It features a double-depth block with a wing at the rear.
The exterior consists of three storeys and a cellar. The shop front was remodeled in 1991. There is a shallow crowning cornice adorned with closely set modillions and a parapet with stone coping. On the first floor, there are three tall sash windows with glazing bars, each arranged in a 3x4 pane configuration. The second floor has three shorter sash windows, also with glazing bars, arranged in a 3x2 pane configuration. The interior has not been inspected.
