Description

Nos. 14, 15 and 16 Sidmouth Street are shops with living accommodation above, dating to approximately the 1830s and 1840s. They are built of red brick with a low-pitched slate roof. Running along the eaves and at the window sill levels of the first and second floors are decorative bands. The building has a symmetrical facade of two, three, and two windows. The first floor has twelve-pane sashes with intact glazing bars, while the second floor has nine-pane sashes, though the glazing bars in the centre of No. 15 and on the right-hand side of No. 16 are simulated. The ground floor shop fronts have been altered; No. 14 has a modern front, No. 16 an early 20th-century front, and No. 15 features two segmental-headed plate glass windows and a central doorway with a cornice above it. The door consists of two flush panels and glazed upper sections.
