Description
No. 8 Market Place is a flat and shop that dates from the 16th century and early 19th century. It is constructed of timber framing and plaster, topped with a low-pitched slate roof. The building stands three storeys tall and features two square double-hung sash windows with small panes on the second floor. On the first floor, there are two similar but larger double-hung sash windows above a 20th-century shopfront. Inside, the building reveals a two-storey 16th-century timber frame, which includes jowled storey posts and chamfered main structure. The interior also retains the remains of the typical 'T' shaped window group on the first floor, with the 'frieze' window mullions still intact.
