Description
Windells is a late 16th-century house with a later addition, located on Earls Colne Road. It is a two-part structure with an additional bay added at the west end. The house is timber-framed and has two storeys, topped with a ridged and gabled roof that is clad with slate. The front elevation is pebble dashed and features marked panels. There are sets of three casement windows, with three on the ground storey and two on the first storey. The front door, which has six fielded panels and a wrought iron arabesque porch, is now off-centre due to the addition. A chimney stack, rebuilt around 1800, is made of red brick and has four shafts arranged in a saltire pattern. At the west end, there is a one-storey extension with a slate lean-to roof.
