Description

GREAT TEY EARLS COLNE ROAD 1. 5214 Teycross Farmhouse TL 82 NE 6/33 IT 2. C15 house 4 rooms long 2 storeys high. Timber framed and plastered, much restored and with modern casement windows. Roof ridged and gabled pegtiled and rear wing of one bay forms a T-plan having a lean-to roof in the south return. The structural bays are no longer discernable. An intruded floor in the middle room dates from circa 1575 by its joists and mouldings and the house frame must therefore date earlier. The rear wing may have been a stairs-tower related to the inserted first floor. (RCHM 28).
