Description
Merlin House is a house that likely dates from the late 16th century, with later additions. It features a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building has two storeys and a four-window range, with 18th-century casements that have square leaded panes. The two right-hand bays include five-light bowed windows. There are two doorways: on the right side, there is a six-panel raised and fielded door, with the upper two panels glazed, and it is accessed via an open timber trellis porch. On the left side, there is another six-panel door, with the upper four panels glazed, which is enclosed by a lean-to porch made of colourwashed brick, featuring a segmental-arched opening. To the right side of the house, there is a single-storey addition with a later section that is set forward, which includes two blank segmental arches that match the lean-to porch. The house has an internal stack and a small external stack on the right gable end.
