Description

The Hawthorns is a house located on the north side of The Street in Earl Soham. It likely dates back to the 16th century at the rear, with an 18th-century front range and an early 19th-century facade. The building has a double pile plan and features timber framing and plastering at the rear, while the facade is made of yellow brick with pantiled roofs.

The house is two storeys high and has a two-window range with three-light casements set under segmental arches. The central doorway has a six-panel door, sunk pilasters, and a frieze, along with a mid-20th-century open brick porch. There is a blank panel at the centre of the first floor. The earlier range displays exposed timbering on the first floor. To the right side of the house, there is a pair of cottages that are now part of the house but are not of special interest.
