Description
This barn, located approximately 10 metres north of Eastgrove Cottage, dates to the 17th century and has been altered since its original construction. It is timber-framed with brick infill between the framing members, set upon a sandstone plinth, and has a tiled roof. The barn is a straight range of four framed bays. The south gable features an altered entry point and a loft access above. The timber framing is irregular, with three panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate, and features diagonal bracing from the sill to the main post. Internally, it contains inclined strut trusses and joists, supporting an inserted floor to create a loft space, although portions of this loft floor have since been removed. The barn contributes to the group value of Eastgrove Cottage.
