Description

This barn, located on the south side of the farmyard at Boveney Court Farm, dates from the 17th century and has been altered over time. It features a timber frame with substantial main timbers and posts set on a sole plate resting on an old brick plinth. The lower panels are infilled with brick, some of which is from the 18th century while some is older, and the exterior is tarred. The upper parts of the walls are covered with weatherboarding. The barn has an old tiled roof that is half-hipped at the west end and consists of five bays.

The south side has a large projecting gabled cart entrance at the center, which includes pigeon holes in the gable. The north elevation features three stable doors and four windows. The west gable showcases timber framing with brick infill and has one window located at a high level. There is a modern lean-to at the east end and another at the northeast, neither of which is of special interest.

Inside, the barn has large jowled posts with deep curving braces supporting heavy tie-beams, which carry queen struts that support collars. There are curved windbraces to the purlins and old rafters without a ridge piece. Some bays have inserted loft floors.
