Description
26 Spring Road is a Grade II listed detached villa built around 1855-1840, located in Edgbaston. This two-storey building features a symmetrical front with three bays and a slightly recessed coach house that serves as a service wing. The exterior is finished in stucco, with a plinth and a first-floor sill course. The low gable end slate roof has a moulded Gothic-eaves cornice.
On the ground floor, the windows have plain stucco frames set on projecting plinths, topped with shallow block pediments on palmette stops. The central first-floor window is similar, while the outer windows feature plain frames with sill zones. A distinctive doorway is adorned with projecting pilaster strips and large consoles that support a projecting section of the blocking course above. The door itself is revealed and panelled, featuring a large Doric panel instead of a fanlight. The two-storey service wing includes a coach house on the ground floor.
