Description

This is a pair of semi-detached villas, likely built between 1830 and 1840. They are located on Spring Road in Edgbaston. The villas are stucco-faced and exhibit a symmetrical design with three bays per property. They feature a plinth and a sill band to the first floor, along with quoin pilasters. The roofs are slate, with overhanging eaves and brick chimney stacks topped with ornamental pots. The ground floor windows are set within architrave surrounds, with cornices, and are blind in the centre of the first floor. The glazing bar sashes remain intact in number 27.

Each villa has a centrally positioned doorway framed by engaged Roman Doric columns supporting an entablature with a moulded cornice and a deep blocking course. The entrance is set within an arched recess, with a four-panel door to number 27, and moulded panel detailing and a lunette fanlight with marginal glazing to number 28. The flank and rear elevations are constructed of red brick.
