Description

This is a group of three detached villas, located at 405, 407, and 409 Hagley Road in Edgbaston, built around 1855. The villas are identical, and they are connected by single-story gig houses. Each villa is two stories high, with stucco exterior and a slate roof featuring flat eaves supported by console brackets and roundels in the frieze. They have a plinth and rusticated quoins. The ground floor has pilastered canted bay windows, with an entablature extending over the entrance bay. This entablature is supported by two engaged Corinthian columns flanking a round-headed doorway. An impost string runs behind the columns and returns to the doorhead, supporting an archivolt over the fanlight. The first floor has an architrave surround and console brackets supporting pediments.
