Description

This is an 1840 stucco villa of two storeys and a basement, situated in Edgbaston. The symmetrical front has three bays. The building features a plinth and a sill band to the first floor. The low-pitched slate roof has moulded eaves and corniced chimneys. Canted bay windows, dating to around 1860, are superimposed on the ground floor and basement and have pilastered lights and entablatures. First-floor windows have architrave surrounds with shallow apron panels, these being narrower towards the centre; they contain glazing bar sashes. A flight of steps leads to the entrance, where a three-panelled door is flanked by pilasters supporting a deep panelled section of entablature, a console, and a blocking course that projects forward. The door is topped by a rectangular fanlight.
