Description
This is an 1850-1860 stucco-faced villa located in Edgbaston. It is a two-story building with a hipped slate roof and flat eaves supported by shallow brackets. Stucco chimneys are present. The front facade, originally three bays wide, appears to have undergone alterations in the early 20th century, though designed to match the original style. The upper floor features box-framed, multi-paned sash windows set within shallow, curved panels. The ground floor windows may be reused from the early 19th century; they are tripartite sashes with slender Tuscan dividing columns and curved, blind heads. A Soanian pilastered doorway is topped by an entablature with a raised panel blocking course. A single-story, two-bay service wing is attached to the right. The south-facing garden front, featuring four bays, remains unaltered. The ground floor has channeled detailing rising to a first-floor sill band, with full-length sash windows and profiled console blind boxes. A central flight of steps leads to the front door, flanked by curved screen walls.
