Description

This is an 18th and 19th century stucco-faced villa, located at 6 Chad Road in Edgbaston. It is a substantial building composed of three bays with a central break and a slightly recessed two-bay wing to the left. The roof is hipped, covered with slate tiles, and features deep eaves supported by shaped brackets, as well as flanking band corniced chimneys. The ground floor is rusticated, extending from the plinth to the cornice. The ground floor windows are arranged in a tripartite grouping with narrow side lights, flat arches with keystones, and rusticated detailing. On the first floor, the outer windows are flanked by fielded panels. A rounded-headed doorway is centrally located in the break, with rusticated detailing on the arch. The wing's windows have double surrounds, with the ground floor windows featuring horned sash glazing bars. The villa is set back behind a carriage sweep.
