Description
No. 3 Vicarage Road is a two-storey, three-bay stucco villa built around 1830. It features well-proportioned design elements typical of the Soanian style, including incised panel quoin pilasters that support a deep frieze. The villa has a hipped slate roof with deep flat eaves and tall brick chimney stacks on either side, as well as an off-centre stack. The walls are incised with "coursing".
The ground floor is enhanced by a full-width verandah, which is supported by very slender cast iron shafts topped with small acanthus leaf capitals, and features a tent roof. The glazing bar sash windows on the ground floor extend down to a shallow step leading onto the verandah. The entrance is recessed and framed by Soanian panelled pilasters that support an archivolt arch above a radial and marginal glazed fanlight. There is also a flanking screen wall with a panelled pediment and capped gate pier.
