Description
Winslade House, formerly known as The Vicarage, is an early 19th-century building. It stands two storeys high with an attic and features symmetrical facades on three sides. The south garden front has three windows and is topped with a slate roof. It includes a central flat-roofed dormer with stucco walling, a parapet, and a cornice. The ground-floor openings are cambered and wider, with sashes in reveals, including three-light windows on either side of a small niche.
The north entrance front features a full-height central arched recess with a balcony above the entrance. There are shallow angular bays on each side, each containing one large window. The walling is stucco with a parapet and cornice, and there is a stone plinth. The sashes have slender hardwood panes and interior folding shutters. The doorway is adorned with a cornice, a plain frieze, and pilasters.
On the west elevation, there are three windows, and the low-pitched gable has a kerb, with the walls recessed on each side to accommodate the returned cornice of the main fronts. The north side features a tall staircase window. A fine wrought-iron rail surrounds the balcony, which is a thin slab supported by curved brackets and accessed via a French window.
