Description

The Japanese lantern located at the south end of The Wild Garden is a garden feature dating from the 19th century or early 20th century. It is made of stone and is carved in a Japanese style. The lantern includes a plinth, a short column with annular mouldings, a polygonal lantern that has small openings and relief carvings, and a swept roof topped with an onion-like finial. This lantern is one of three positioned at the center and at either end of the Wild Garden. It is an interesting feature that holds strong group value with other listed items in this significant garden design.
