Description

The Japanese lantern at the north end of the Wild Garden is a garden lantern from the 19th or early 20th century, made of stone. It is carved in the Japanese style and features a plinth, a short column with annular mouldings, a polygonal lantern with small openings and relief carvings, and a swept roof topped with an onion-like finial. This lantern is one of three positioned at the center and at either end of the Wild Garden. It is an interesting garden feature that holds significant group value with other listed items in this important garden design.
