Description
15 Chad Road is a well-proportioned two-storey, two-bay Greek Revival villa, built around 1840-1850. It is set back with a carriage sweep. The building features a plinth with quoin pilasters, a shallow central break, a first-floor sill course, a deep frieze, and a projecting cornice with a slightly raised parapet that forms a block pediment over the central break. The ground floor has a channelled finish, and the flanking bays are framed as panels by the pilasters, frieze, plinth, and central break. The ground floor windows are set in architrave surrounds that extend down to the plinth, while the first-floor windows are simply revealed. The glazing bar sashes are intact. A heavy Greek Doric porch with a flight of steps leads to the entrance, which has an architrave doorway with panelled reveals and door furniture designed in the Arts and Crafts style. To the left, there is a recessed narrow bay adjoined by a screen wall, which features an advanced segmental arched carriage entrance to the yard and coach house. Additionally, there is a two-storey hipped roof service wing at the side and rear.
