Description

No. 7 Vicarage Road is an early 19th-century villa, likely dating from the 1830s to 1840s, originally paired with No. 8. It was designed as a detached house with a coach house to the north. The villa is constructed with a stucco façade and features three bays. It has a plinth, a sill band and a deep frieze. The slate roof has overhanging eaves and corniced chimneys. A two-storey, pilastered canted bay window, dating from around 1870, was inserted into the southern bay, featuring a cornice and blocking course. A single-storey canted bay window was added to the north. The original windows on the first floor in the centre and on the right-hand side are set within architraves with ears. The central entrance is round-headed, with a recessed doorcase composed of engaged, fluted Roman Doric columns and an entablature above the doorhead, topped by a looped radial fanlight. A screen wall connects the villa to the two-storey coach house, which has a segmental archway.
